The Caps and Pom-pom Challenge

The boys have mastered the shape sorter and love to trick me by fitting shapes into different shapes holes.

But today I've challenged them to think of shapes differently. I've created a shape sorter that is for circles, but they will be thinking of the shapes in a more 3-d sense. They have flat circles (different sized caps) and pom-poms to sort. It only took then a few minutes to figure it out!

Fruit Scented Dyed Pasta

I created fruit scented, brightly colored pasta in a variety of shapes using Kool Aid! Toddlers love to explore the textures, smells and color, while preschoolers have fun sorting by shape and color. This is great for math as they grow and develop. I used the recipe below!
Kool Aid Dyed Pasta
Kool-Aid Dyed Pasta
1 cup of dried pasta
1 packet of Kool Aid
1 tbsp Rubbing Alcohol
Ziploc bags
Foil

Directions:
1. Mix the kool aid and alcohol by shaking it together in a ziploc bag, some flavors of Kool-Aid make a strange white paste within the "dye," you can easily pick it out with a fork and throw it away.
2. Add the pasta and shake it some more.
3. Leave the pasta in the dye overnight.
4. Lightly rinse the pasta with cool water.
5. Spread the pasta out over the foil to dry.
