The Program
Discovery Zoo is a licensed, in-home childcare located in the Hidden Lakes neighborhood in Orting, WA. My care is for children ages one through six years old (pre-k), requiring all day care. I'm currently licensed to care for six children, this small class size allows more one-on-one attention for each child.I provide a safe, fun experience for children to explore and learn. Here, each child is seen as an individual with their own potentials, interests, and needs. Each child has the opportunity to learn through imagination and hands-on activities in a nurturing home environment.
My family has undergone criminal history background checks and tuberculosis testing. I am certified in CPR, first aid, and HIV training. I receive ongoing training in child development every year.
Values are important in all our lives, and I strive to
respect each family’s values. It is my goal to teach children to respect
others. No child will be subjected
to discrimination in my care.
Meet the Teacher
I'm Michelle Staszak! I grew up with a home daycare my entire childhood, I'm also a mother of two teenage boys and a baby girl. Some might say I understand children, they are my passion. I chose to open my family's home to child care so that I can finally do what I love: teach, play and care for children all day.Pets and Family
The Discovery Zoo is pet friendly. We have two small dogs and a cat. Although they aren't around the classroom often, they are all good with children. They are also healthy and regularly vaccinated and treated for fleas and other parasites.Although my family does not work in the childcare, you may see them passing through. I share a home with my loving husband, David, our daughter, Abbie, and our two sons, Cal and Max. They've all passed criminal background tests and tuberculosis tests as required by the State of Washington.
